Area Mangunan

Another must-visit sunrise spot for sunrise hunters.

With a sea of clouds just below us, catch a beautiful sunrise at the hill of rising sun, Bukit Panguk Kediwung.

It is one of the Instagrammable tourist attractions in Yogyakarta which features stunning views. Enjoy the breeze, the view, while taking photos in many beautiful and unique spots. The panoramic is really outstanding.

Bukit Panguk Kediwung is located in Kediwung, Mangunan, Dlingo, Bantul, on the side of a hill which is directly adjacent to the hills to Gunung Kidul Regency which is known as the “Second Floor” of Yogyakarta or the highest area in the city. This location is also close to the famous Jurang Tembelan Mangunan.

To reach Bukit Panguk Kediwung from the city of Yogyakarta, you can head to Jalan Imogiri Timur, which is in the south of the city. Arriving at Jalan Imogiri Timur and passing the Imogiri Market, proceed towards Mangunan through the Makam Raja Mataram until you arrive at the Dlingo tourist area. There you will see directions to go to the location of Bukit Panguk Kediwung.

A little tip when you want to go to Bukit Panguk Kediwung, it’s easier to use a private car, medium tourist vehicle, or motorbike. Using a large size tourist bus is not recommended.

This tourist attraction was just opened in 2016. What distinguishes it from other tourist objects is the unique design of the viewing post and the viewpoint of the natural scenery that appears.

You can see the view of a long river on the sides of which is a green and beautiful hill. In contrast to several similar tourist objects that display the surface shape of the city of Yogyakarta, Bukit Panguk Kediwung is more of its natural scenery.

If you have the opportunity to come in the morning, you can see the beauty of the sunrise shrouded in clouds with cool fresh air. For a serene atmosphere with red sunlight you can see it when the sunset is in the afternoon.

Well, Bukit Panguk Kediwung in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is indeed worthy of being one of the favorite tourist destinations.

Not far from Bukit Panguk Kediwung, you can also find and visit another tourist spot which was already popularly known before. Yup! It’s Kebun Buah Mangunan.

Located at an altitude of 150-200 meters above sea level, the Kebun Buah Mangunan has a strong magnet, so people are willing to wake up at dawn and walk along the quiet streets to reach this place. It is a sea of white mist like the rolling waves that covered the Oya River like a blanket. To get that breathtaking view, you have to trek for a while to the top of the hill where you can find a gazebo and viewing post in that area.

Even though the view of the Oya River from a height is the main reason people visit this place, in fact there are other beauties and pleasures that you can get at the Kebun Buah Mangunan. Just like its name, this 23 hectare area is also filled with various fruit plants.

The arrangement of the plants in this place is quite interesting, which is adjusted to the slope of the hill. You can see the rows of durian, matoa, mango, rambutan, water guava, guava, longan, cempedak, sapodilla, mangosteen and other fruit trees thrive here.

If you visit during the harvest season, you can enjoy the freshness of the fruits planted in the Kebun Buah Mangunan. However, visitors are not allowed to pick the fruit directly from the tree, you can still taste it by buying it from the manager. The fresh fruit harvested is sold at a lower price than the market price, and you are only able to buy these fruits during the opening hours, 08.00 AM to 04.00 PM Indonesia Western Time.

Talking about Mangunan feels incomplete if you don’t mention the famous Hutan Pinus Mangunan (Mangunan Pine Forest). In this place you will find a beautiful stretch of pine forest complete with pine leaves and flowers that are scattered over the ground.

You can also enjoy the cool atmosphere in the pine forest while going up to the viewing post built in the middle of the forest. To enjoy all this beauty, you only need to pay IDR 3,000 as a motorbike parking fee and IDR 10,000 if you bring a car.

Well, say no more! Mangunan is indeed the perfect place to get away for a moment from the hustle and bustle of the routine. So, let’s create a beautiful memory and pleasant journey when you visit here.
